Parent Letter

Dear Parents,

Eighth grade exhibitions are scheduled for April 18 and 19, 2019. Our Marston eighth grade students will present to a panel an essay about school namings and memorialization. While the essay will be written in groups of three, each student will create his or her own visual pieces that demonstrates reflection of their learning. Instruction and guidance will be provided by several of the students'classes including History and English. They will also have an Advisory class dedicated to preparation.

Exit Exhibitions are presented to a panel representing Marston's staff, students, families, and community members. Exhibitions are required of each eighth grader at Marston. With their group, each eighth grader will prepare, practice, and deliver a 25 to 30 minute presentation. In that time frame, the group will orally summarize their essay, individually present his or her visual pieces and answer panel questions as a group. Panel members will be responsible for listening to, analyzing, and evaluating the presentation. Each student will receive individual feedback.

Your student will need your help to be successful in this endeavor. Please provide ample opportunity for your student to practice at home. The evaluation criteria used by the panel and the exhibition requirements are located on our website (www. so you can offer your student constructive suggestions to improve his or her presentation. We encourage parents, guardians, or family members to participate on a panel.

Thank you for your continued support!
