Art is a semester long elective. The beginning art class is an elective where students learn how to combine the basic art elements to design original and unique creations. Students learn about color, line, symmetry, perspective, space, and tone. They learn how to use watercolors, acrylics, pastels (both oil and soft), pencils, and mixed media. Students learn how to draw still lifes, manga, and topographical artwork. They participate in an oriental ink painting project with origami. They create three dimensional works of art using radial symmetry. After learning about a design element, they create and present their artwork to the class. Some work is displayed in the library, and other art pieces are displayed in the windows and on the walls of 206. At the end of the semester, students have two weeks to use all of their knowledge to create and present an original piece of art. Art is taught by Mrs. Hashimoto
