Good Afternoon Marston Families,

I hope you are all safe during this extreme weather. The first day of school has been delayed to Tuesday, August 22nd. This letter was sent to SDUSD families earlier today.

On Tuesday, we will have the gates open at 7:30 a.m. and students should walk directly to the lunch court to pick up a hard copy of their schedules. We use this "pick-up" as a form of attendance, so even if students have a different copy somewhere, they still need to come to the lunch court tomorrow to pick up this recent version.

At the moment our enrollment appears to be about 80 students higher than what was projected months ago. Of course we won't know the true enrollment until classes are underway and we see who is actually on campus. Fortunately last spring Marston was allocated additional teachers, so we do have enough teachers to start the year despite this recent, sharp increase. If the enrollment continues to be strong during the first few weeks of school, we may be hiring additional teachers and, as a result, changing some student schedules to balance out the classes. Please discuss this possibility with your child as we know changes during the school year can be difficult.

Thank you for reading it and WELCOME to the 2023-2024 school year! We are so excited to have your child at Marston! See you Tuesday!
